Meet the Midwives & Nurse Practitioners
The midwives and nurse practitioners at Dekalb Women’s Specialists are an exceptionally talented team. They are experts in the field of women’s healthcare. Our midwives offer experienced and compassionate care for women before, during, and after the birth of their babies. Our nurse practitioners are trained and qualified to do a lot of what physicians do: diagnose patients’ conditions, order prescriptions and medical tests, as well as collaborate in the care of patients.

Chakeeta Williams began her education with a biology degree from Savannah State University. She knew she wanted to become a nurse, so she went on to earn a bachelor of science in nursing from Emory University. During her education at Emory, she fell in love with birth work and women’s healthcare.
Chakeeta worked as a registered nurse in a cardiac step-down unit before beginning her journey to becoming a midwife. She received her master of science in midwifery from Frontier Nursing University based in Versailles, Kentucky. Now, Chakeeta has found her calling in helping women with their pregnancies and beyond. She offers support, information, and guidance to help patients make important health decisions.
In her free time, Chakeeta enjoys reading, spin class, and spending time with family and friends.

Antoinette Holmes, CNM, WHNP
Certified Nurse Midwife
Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner
Antoinette Holmes was born and raised in Compton, California. She’s been involved in the medical field for as long as she can remember. She began as a file clerk, receptionist, then medical assistant in a sports medicine clinic in Inglewood.
Encouraged by her mother to experience life outside of LA, Antoinette attended Villanova University in Pennsylvania, where she earned her bachelor's degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for 10 years before returning to school to obtain her master's degree in nursing. She completed the certified nurse midwifery and women's health nurse practitioner programs at Georgetown University in Washington D.C.
Antoinette moved to Georgia in 2009, got married in 2011, and had her first child in 2012. She is family-oriented and loves to help others, travel, and visit the beach. She brings to her job a heart full of compassion, and she is eager to share the love and support she’s received in her life with others.

Michelle Arp, CNM
Certified Nurse Midwife
Originally from Ohio, Michelle Arp has lived and worked as a certified nurse midwife in the metro Atlanta area since 1996.
Michelle received her bachelor of science in nursing from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, in 1992. She then worked as a labor and delivery nurse in Fort Myers, Florida, before beginning her advance training in nurse midwifery at Rutgers University in New Jersey.
After finishing her schooling, Michelle moved to Georgia. She brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience caring for women during their pregnancies. She estimates that she has "caught" more than 5,000 babies to date over the course of her career.
Michelle is a widow and mother of a middle-school-aged son. Together, they enjoy camping, boating, and outdoor activities, as well as traveling as much as possible.
Michelle is our midwife in the hospital only, not in the office.
Kimberly Amedee, NP
Nurse Practitioner
Kimberly Amedee received a bachelor of arts in multidisciplinary studies at SUNY Stony Brook. She knew she wanted a career in the medical field, so she then obtained her nursing degree from SUNY Farmingdale.
As a registered nurse, Kim worked with patients with special needs and the developmentally disabled. She has also worked with incarcerated patients. She has cared for women with postpartum issues and requiring general gynecological care.
Kim earned her master of science and completed the family nurse practitioner program at Walden University. She is passionate about maternal mental health and the prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Originally from Long Island, New York, Kim has lived in the metro Atlanta area since 2007. She is a member of the Zeta Phi Beta sorority. In her spare time, she loves spending time with family and loves to travel.
